THE MAIN FARM:

OWNERS – Los Naranjos

ALTITUDE GROWN – 1350 masl

LOCATION – Ahuachapan, El Salvador

PROCESS – Washed

VARIETY – Pacamara

SCA SCORE - 86.5 - regarded as "Excellent"

This farm is planted only with pacamara and has been under Sigfredo for 10 years. Since he took on the farm they have used no herbicides to help replenish the soil and nutrients to give a good base for growing coffee once again. The farm is broken into 23 Manzanas with approximately 3000 trees in each section. The farm is beautifully divided with shade trees and wind barriers to protect the coffee trees. On a day to day basis the farm is managed by some of the graduates from the technical school as well.

The coffee is selectively harvested and from here it then is taken to the wet mill and drying beds at Beneficio San Rafael located between the two hills of El Pilon and Cerro Aguila at 1450 masl. In the harvest this football field becomes filled with drying beds for all the coffees that come from the farms Los Angeles and Noruega.

The Pacamara lot is washed and floated before then being pulped and left to ferment in tiled tanks for around 24 to 36 hours.
After this the coffee is washed in fresh washed to remove the remaining mucilage then taken to the raised beds to dry for 15 to 20 days and being turned regularly to insure even drying until the desired moisture content.

I'M PERFECT FOR:

Filer, French Press/Cafetière, Pour Over/V60 and Aeropress. Works well with or without milk.

Once opened, consume within 4 weeks for best results and before best before date. Store in an airtight container.

Black Gold - Best so Far

I have used four out of five of WBR's beans (not gymBREW) and enjoyed all of them greatly. WBR just seem to select and roast to my (current) preferences - about one year into my coffee journey.

Black Gold is my definite preference, and I do still order some of the all the others I have tried. I find it very smooth, with good body and low acidity.

LeLit Elizabeth, Niche grinder 16.5 to 17.0, 16g in for 34-36g out in 36 sec including 6 sec water pre-infusion

The Black Gold brand is a really rich but smooth blend. With hints of orange it really hits the spot. My new favourite

Too Dark for me!

While I really like the Rich Italian blend, this one was so dark that the batch I had was a tad bitter.
