What you need to know:

  • Full bodied blend giving a creamy mouthfeel, notes of caramel, cookie and nut, with a powerful kick
  • Strength 4/5
  • Acidity - Soft
  • Great taste judges comments - "Good roasting, full-on nuts with no ashy carbon flavours creeping in, which we enjoyed. With milk added it gives it an unctuousness, akin to praline that demands a second sip."

Perfect for:

Latte, Flat White, Cappuccino, Espressos, Americanos, stronger Filter coffees & Bean to cup coffees. Particularly good for espresso based drinks. Stands up well to milk and oat/dairy alternatives.

Once opened, consume within 3-4 weeks for best results.

“Lovely rich coffee! The smell wafting from the kitchen did not disappoint the taste test. Smooth with no bitter acidic aftertaste. Bonus was the Italian coffee with Panetonne - pure heaven.” - thank you Katarina!

Finer Detail & The Main Coffee Farm (Guatemala):

OWNER - Erica Sanchez

ALTITUDE – 1700 - 1950 meters above sea level

LOCATION – San Antonio Huista, Huehuetenango, Guatemala

PROCESS – Washed

VARIETY – Bourbon & Caturra

FARM SIZE - 2.5 hectares

Ericka Sanchez is the owner of 2.5 hectares of land in the San Antonio Huista area of Huehuetenango. The farm, La Montaña, is planted with Caturra, Bourbon and Pache, and sits at 1700masl. Ericka is part of the Red de Mujeres, or 'network of women' in English and she manages her farm using organic fertilizer which she produces onsite. Ericka doesn't use any chemical inputs and has diversified the other crops she grows on the land to safeguard for a sustainable future. The fermentation method she uses is fairly unique and is now been passed on to other members of ACODIHUE. Ericka lets the coffee dry ferment for a longer period of time in controlled conditions in order to accentuate the characteristics in the cup.

The Red de Mujeres, or 'network of women', is a large group of female coffee producers covering five different areas of Huehuetenango. The group is made up of 830 women. Within the entire community of women there are 8 different Mayan languages spoken, highlighting the diversity of culture and language in this area of Guatemala.

All of these women have been either widowed during the 36 years of civil war in Guatemala, or were left when their husbands fled the country during the coffee crisis between 2001 and 2004. Since Huehuetenango was one of the areas hardest hit by the crisis, many people decided to give up altogether and find work elsewhere, leaving their families behind.

Disappointed ☹️ 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Was Expecting a lovely dark roast Italian but what I got in my opinion was a very light roast strength of maybe 3 I prefer strong full rounded Italian coffee a good 5 would of been great..Probably won’t even drink it..☹️ Or am I preparing if wrong because I have just read the other reviews and it’s a great coffee 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Beautiful taste. Strong but not bitter.

This is a much puncher coffee than the signature gold. Lots of flavour, strong but definitively not bitter. Beautiful blend.

We use this in a sage oracle touch machine on a grind of roughly 22 and brew time of 30 secs.

Great coffee, great service

Discovered this company a few months ago and just keep using them as their coffee is excellent (I've tried the Italian one) and the service is brilliant. That whilst using a small local company is just great. Thanks Alex!

Steve (Rhyl, GB)
Lovely smooth Italian blend

It's been a while since I've had a dark roast, and this was just what I was after. The kind of blend that got me hooked from the start. This is a beautiful dark roasted blend which I've been using for cortados and flat whites. It has that classic Italian taste, better than any of your chain coffee shop rubbish 😁. Brew ratio 1:2.1(16g in 34g out) on my Sage duo temp pro with IMS double basket. Brew time 26-28s. Starts to become bitter after 28s. Just lovely. What more can be said...

Dark but not bitter...

...even when brewed in my ancient Bialetti stovetop pot! Add just a dash of warm milk and hey presto, the perfect pick me up to start my day.

Awesome local coffee

I love the Rich Italian coffee, it has a gorgeous smooth and rich coffee taste with no bitterness. I love it in my flat white, it packs a huge flavour punch!

Rich Italian Mar/April 2022

This is my second most favourite coffee from WBR. Very much reminds me of strong, rich Italian coffees of years gone by. I found a (very slight) initial bitterness that was then followed by a rich coffee/chocolate flavour that became a sweet tasting finish. Will definitely be re-ordered regularly.
