Meet Alex, the owner and head coffee roaster at West Berkshire Roastery, a family-run business with a deep passion for exceptional coffee.
Alex’s journey began in 2014, sparked by a simple but nagging question during a coffee break: why does office coffee so often miss the mark?
Determined to create a better, direct trade coffee experience, he set out to build a roastery centered on quality, simplicity, and the pleasure of a truly great cup.
At West Berkshire Roastery, everything is done by hand and with care. Every single batch of coffee is freshly roasted and packed on-site by our team, ensuring the highest quality and freshness for our customers.
Since the beginning, we’ve been perfecting our roasts to bring out the best in each bean, offering our customers a truly artisanal coffee experience from our family to yours. We believe that making a great cup of coffee should be easy—no fancy gadgets or barista training required.

Meet Bertie
Bertie, our black Labrador, is the heart and soul of West Berkshire Roastery.
Whether he’s greeting visitors with a wagging tail or snoozing in a sunny corner, Bertie brings warmth and charm to every coffee-filled day.
He’s the perfect companion for long roasting sessions — always ready for a stroll between brews and a well-deserved nap after.
If you’re lucky, you might even catch him keeping a watchful eye on the beans, ensuring every roast meets his paw of approval!
